Two highs and a low...

What a crazy work day.

It started out with 'Parent Party Day' at Am's School. How fun was this. All in colour coded teams for the school year. K1's in blue as you can see.

A morning of fun, games, singing, dancing. Here's some more.

This was the big introduction to the parents of the teams. They had all learnt a Mandarin song and dance routine - just too cute it has to be said.

Look at her go. She really really got in to it.

Go Amy - Go Amy!

Coaching for the moves come from Lao Shui the Chinese Teacher - looking more like something from a Muppets Film in that wig though, ha ha!

They all did so very very well.
All the parents loved it!

Then time to sit and watch some other stuff, games about to begin, snacks being consumed etc.

Small world sometimes.

A very good man, Mr Damian Lynch of SCB has agreed to be my DJ at barmAID - you know the event for the Cambodia fund raising. I have had some beers with him now to say thanks and to get to know him a lot better.

Well bugger me he's in the crowd with the parents watching the show.
"What you doing here mate?"
"My daughter goes to this school."
"Wow small world!"
"Which one is she?"
"That one over there."
"What the one sat next to my daughter Amy?"

Unbelievable isn't it. Yes Amy and Ivy are mates. And here they are.

Good to see Ms Pat again - all smiles as always.

Some lovely shots of Amy and her school mates to follow - VERY nice!

A version of egg and spoon which had every adult completely perplexed re the rules and running order - but guess what, yep the kids knew exactly what was happening and off they went!

Parents turn.
The paper dance.
Basically dance until music stops and then you both have to jump on a newspaper.
Then fold in half and repeat the process of dance, stop music, jump on.

Of course the smaller the paper gets the harder it is for the two of you to stand on it - improvising is called for as you can see.

And harder, and harder ha ha!

We go prizes - this was gorgeous from Amy.

Hand Massage Vouchers - I have had two already.
It was such a lovely present thank you Amy.

Then home.
Then to work, but not work as you know it.
It was Kids to Work Day - so yep they all came with me.

Mary outside one of our bid rooms - actually I think Ged took this as he was admiring my new camera.

We had converted the Showcase to a games room - well named chill room - but with Xbox & PS2 it was more games room.

Face painting.

Can you guess what it is yet...

Clown, nope...
Someone very embarrassed, nope...
Someone with big measles, nope...

She was a cat.

Then two cats.

Then three cats.

So we've had Ollie as Cat in the Hat.

Now we have Amy as Cat in the Office.

Ollie on the games again - these ones where a camera picks up your movement and makes the avatar move in the game - well at least it gets them up off their bums and not breaking their thumbs on the consoles.

A magic show was held = pretty damn impressive actually!

My great mate John and his beautiful little thing - we know her as Bubbles from when we 1st met her as a baby on Nikoi Island trip No.1. Muah!

Two mates from that trip re-united - bless them both.

Where's Ollie? Hmmmm!
Yep you guessed it - still in the "Chill Room" - on the games.

I even managed to use everyone's kind hearts that day to whack up my beautiful pull-ups promoting Cambodia fund raising - all 80's themed, LOVE them!

Ollie with the wonderful organiser of the great afternoon - Renee and Rachael - thanks so very much ladies, the kids had an absolute BLAST! Oh yeah and a tonne of sugar intake - thanks...

Couldn't help myself - Seb and his beautiful family, all smiles and deserving a photo!

So two highs - we had a great time at both.

Then to the low.

If you are not in Singapore I am assuming you have seen the news about the 'haze' we have.

Haze is an understatement - it is a toxic cloud caused by rich Indonesian and Singaporean palm oil farmers, setting fire to their crops so they don't have to clear the fields. The result is this. The sky at 1800. A smoggy, smoky, hazy mess. This is the sun and I have not messed about with any filters.

PSI is basically the pollutant concentrations in the air. Up to 100 is about OK.
At 11am it was about 410 - tonight it is back down to 153.
It is disgusting.
People are sick.
Everyone is wearing masks.
People are coughing and spluttering.
People are house locked because being advised by Ministry of Health to not venture out.

So a low indeed.
And because of that me, Mary and the kids are going North tomorrow to Malacca, Malaysia.
We need some clean air are two weeks of this.

So another blog to come Sunday likely from that trip.
It's been a long while since we have been there. But it is a relatively short drive.

In fact you may remember that was the very place we had our final family holiday when my Nina was with  still with us 6 years or so ago - mixed feelings re going back therefore - but I know we'll have some major fun!

Bye Singapore.
